Alliston Potato Festival

It is through generous sponsors and volunteer contributions that residents of this potato rich town get to enjoy the Alliston Potato Festival. Happening every year on the second weekend in August, the festival takes over the downtown core. Be sure to come hungry and stop at one of the local food vendors for some fresh cut fries or tornado potatoes.

The festival began in 1973 and continues to grow each year. Highlights of the festival include the Parade happening Friday evening at Banting High school and coming down Victoria street, The Vodka Distillery Tour, The Midway, Pancake Breakfast and the Concert in the Park closing the weekend on the Sunday.

There are several contests to be a part of like the baby show and the potato peeling contest. Then make sure to check out all the demonstrations by local organizations like the Alliston Nikolettes. Wristbands for the whole weekend are available prior to the event.

Proceeds from this event get put back into the community by improving facilities like the bandshell at Riverdale Park. As well as donations to events like the relay for life and the Beeton Fall Fair.
